Liquid Staking Tokens Face Governance Crisis
Major protocols debate the limits of voter concentration as liquid staking derivatives dominate the staking landscape.

Governance forums at three of the largest liquid staking protocols are debating hard caps on validator set concentration, a discussion prompted by research showing that a small number of node operators control a decisive share of delegated stake.
Proponents of caps argue that concentration reintroduces the trusted intermediaries proof-of-stake was designed to avoid. Opponents counter that artificial limits push stake toward less transparent custodial arrangements.
No proposal has reached a binding vote. Two of the three protocols have scheduled temperature checks for next month.
Independent researchers point out that the measurement itself is contested: operator identity is self-declared, and infrastructure providers often serve multiple nominally distinct operators.
