Rabby Wallet Review: The Transaction Preview Every Wallet Should Copy

Rabby's pre-signature simulation and per-chain risk warnings make it the safest browser wallet for active on-chain users, though hardware pairing and mobile parity still lag.

What we liked

  • Simulates balance changes before signing, in plain language
  • Automatically switches to the correct chain for the connected site
  • Flags contract age, approval scope and known-malicious addresses
  • Open source and free, with a built-in approval revocation tool

What we didn’t

  • Hardware wallet pairing is occasionally fragile after browser updates

The dominant failure mode in decentralized finance is not a broken protocol, it is a user approving a transaction they did not understand. Rabby is built around that problem.

Before a signature, the wallet simulates the transaction and shows what will actually leave and enter the address, in plain language, alongside the token approvals being granted. Over three weeks of testing across lending, swapping and NFT contracts, the simulation was accurate in every case we checked against the resulting on-chain state.

The risk layer goes further. Rabby flags contracts deployed recently, warns on unlimited approvals, and cross-references known-malicious addresses. Its built-in revocation screen makes cleaning up historic approvals a two-minute task rather than a trip to a third-party site.

Chain handling is the other quiet advantage. Rabby detects the network a site expects and switches to it, eliminating the most tedious friction in multi-chain use.

The weaknesses are real but narrow. Hardware wallet pairing dropped twice during our test after browser updates and required re-authorisation. The mobile app, while capable, does not yet match the extension. And the default swap flow routes through Rabby's own aggregator, which users should treat as a product placement rather than neutral routing.

It is free, open source and better at protecting users than wallets with far larger installed bases. Four and a half stars.
